Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 Review

Review Summary
We are sure, that just like its predecessors, the Sony DSC-P100 will be a big hit with the point-and-shoot crowd. It is simple to use, delivers excellent images and can be carried anywhere thanks to its small size. Apart from this it provides control over saturation, contrast and sharpness and there are several manual options to offer ample creative possibilities to more advanced photographers.

The Sony DSC P100 is a five megapixel digital camera with a three times optical zoom lens. It has a good set of features and provides just about everything you need in a consumer level digital camera. The person most likely to buy the DSC P100 is someone who is looking for a camera that is a sizeable step up on the most basic models without losing ease of use. This camera will comfortably take care of all the standard picture shots, social gatherings, holiday pictures and shots for the family album.

Just released, the Sony DSC-P100 packs a 5.1 megapixel CCD and a 3X Carl Zeiss zoom into a small and sleek metallic body. While retaining many of the elements of previous P series cameras, the new P100 adds some new design touches.

The Sony DSC-P100 is the latest in Sony's highly popular line of subcompact "P-series" digicams, this latest model sporting a full 5.0 megapixel CCD, a 3x optical zoom lens, and an expanded range of nine preset Scene modes to choose from. The Sony DSC-P100 offers a few more exposure options than its predecessor, including a manual exposure mode........

Despite its compact, popsicle-shaped design and strong video-capture qualifications, Sony's 5-megapixel Cyber Shot DSC-P100 ultimately disappoints. As we find with many of its siblings, the P100's control layout and menu system needs work, and it delivers subpar image quality

Small, sleek, and speedy, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 is a pleasure to shoot with, and it captures crisp, generally well-exposed images, with pleasing colors. This handy 5-megapixel camera has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 7.9- to 23.7-mm (35-mm equivalent: 38 to 114 mm), f/2.8 to f/5.2, 3X optical zoom lens, which retracts into the camera's body when powered down. It's got a bright, 1.8-inch LCD (in addition to its optical viewfinder) that performs well in direct sunlight. The controls are nicely positioned for one-handed shooting, but because the P100's lens is positioned on the opposite side from the shutter button, the camera is better balanced for shooting two-handed.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 is a point-and-shoot digital camera that comes in three different colours: silver, blue and red. But don't be fooled by the fashion colours and compact JeansPocket™ Certified metallic body: the Sony P100 takes great pictures in Program AE mode, plus there is a Manual mode that provides more control over exposure. It has 5.1 megapixel resolution, a 3x (38-114mm, 35mm equivalent) optical zoom, easy-to-use scene modes, and MPEG VX movie mode.
